Actor and Comedian Tracy Morgan was in a bad car accident over the weekend when a semi-truck ran into his tour bus. He was placed in intensive care following the bus crash where he remained unresponsive for some time. Tracy was traveling with 6 other 5 other passengers from a comedy show when the incident happened.
The 45-year-old former Saturday Night Live star was traveling in a limo bus that overturned around 1 a.m. Saturday morning of Exit 7A of the Turnpike in Cranbury, N.J., state police tell NBC10.com. That’s just north of Trenton. State police say a preliminary investigation has found that a tractor trailer came up upon slow moving traffic and caused the crash. Six vehicles — two tractor trailers, an SUV and two cars — all were involved, state police said. The 30 Rock actor was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Center in New Brunswick, N.J. He is in intensive care, state police confirm. The bus was carrying six passengers in all. One passenger on the bus has died, state police say. Three were critically hurt and one is in fair condition, hospital officials say. Morgan was scheduled to perform at Dover Downs Casino in Dover, Del. last night.
According to TMZ reports:
Tracy Morgan is still in critical condition with several broken bones … and doctors expect him to remain hospitalized for several weeks. Tracy’s rep tells TMZ the comedian has been more responsive today … but sustained a number of injuries including a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. We’re told he’s currently recovering after having surgery earlier today on the broken leg. Tracy’s rep adds, “His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
The passenger that died was identified as Ardie Fuqua, the opening act for Tracy in Delaware Saturday night. The Truck driver faces serious jail time after now being charged with Death By Auto. Our prayers go out to the entire crew and their family that were affected by the crash.
