***WHAT A STAND UP GUY*** #CelebNews J. Cole Keeps Promise And Attends Fan’s High School Graduation [PHOTOS]

J. Cole is one of the good guys and proves it time and time again. J. Cole is currently on his mini Friday Night Lights Tour but he doesn’t feel anything should break a promise.

As a college educated man himself, the Dreamville top dog knows the importance of hitting the books first and foremost. In 2013, he made a Twitter acquaintance with a young fan by the name of Cierra Bosarge who wrote him a letter that inspired him to be great beyond his current success. According to their stored DMs, he promised her he would attend her high school graduation on the sole condition that she get accepted to a four-year college.

Fast forward to the present day and Lil Cici is ready to embark on the world head first. And wouldn’t you know it, Mr. 2014 Forest Hills Drive was in the stands as she walked the stage.

“You gotta dream like you never seen obstacles,” she captioned her photo-op with the superstar rapper, quoting his song “The Autograph.” To top off his appearance, he bought her several books for the next tier of her education including C.S. Lewis’ The Great Divorce and The Autobiography of Malcolm X.

***ONE TOUGH COOKIE*** #CelebNews Taraji P. Henson Tells Her Story And Is Flaming Hot In W Magazine [PHOTOS]

The beautiful Taraji P. Henson is continuing to make major moves that are not going unnoticed. With all her recent success it's no wonder many magazines want to catch up with the actress. Taraji P. Henson covers the new issue of W magazine. Inside, the 44-year-old Washington D.C. native talks about becoming Cookie on Empire, how it changed her career, and the criticism she’s received for the role.

From W Magazine

Cookie, as embodied by Henson, has become the reigning heroine of 2015. She’s maternal, sexy, honest, and always up for a cat fight.
Largely because of Cookie, Empire is the season’s No. 1 broadcast series with adults 18 to 49 and has unseated The Big Bang Theory. More than 17 million viewers watched the season finale, a bizarre mash-up of revealed secrets, attempted murder, quasi-incestuous sex, and a sudden plot twist involving an incurable disease, which prompted 2.4 million tweets in the space of two hours.
The audience must like the speed of the plot contrivances—the show’s ratings have increased steadily by the week, as has its viewership online. The show’s soundtrack was No. 1 on the Billboard200 chart. And Henson, who in June won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for best actress in a drama series, has 3.49 million followers on Twitter alone.
“They want Cookie,” Henson declared. “They see her heart. They see her intentions. And they love her style—her style is 17 years behind the fashion curve, which makes the clothes a character on the show. As Cookie grows, you’ll see her fashion grow. And people love that—she’s a work in progress. The only thing that never changes is her spirit: To me, Cookie is living, breathing, walking truth.”
Nevertheless, Henson has attracted a lot of criticism, especially from the black community, which feels Cookie is not a proper role model. “When I hear that Cookie is a bad representation of black women, I don’t get involved. Maybe Cookie makes you uncomfortable because she reminds you of yourself. People miss the bigger picture when they start judging.”

***ARTIST ON A MAJOR RISE*** #CelebNews Rapper Tink Continues To Drop Heat That Super Producer Timberland Calls Magic!

It's about time many get to know the female artist Tink. She's making major noise while making music many are calling timeless. HipHopWired Reports:When you think Tink, the mind has the expand its horizons, considering the versatility the Chicago MC has displayed thus far. Following her Aaliyah “One In a Million” cover under the obvious tutelage of Timbaland, the #1 female rap contender bounces back with some much more and original and twice as sex on her song “I Like.”

Over a subtle piano loop and pulsating drum snares supplied by producer C-Sick, Tink slinks across the track in a light R&B moan that is oh-so irresistible. However it’s the lyrical gems in the track that are ripe with the most fruit.

“Are you here to rescue me”/Are you here to gon and get a check with me?/Are you to pillow talk?/Or are you here bounce and pull out when the sh*t get hard…I tell ’em that’s ‘That’s that sh*t I’m used to/Don’t blame me for my issues.'”

These are the questions that seriously challenge the male psyche. Fellas, get your head on straight for a real woman. Listen to Tink’s “I Like” below and keep a look out for that debut album.

***FROM SELMA TO THE COMICS*** #CelebNews Ava DuVernay Picked To Direct Black Panther Film By Marvel!

Nothing's stopping film director Ava DuVernay from making moves. The spotlight has been on her every since she debuted the blockbuster hit Selma. Via HipHopWired: What Marvel wants, Marvel typically gets. After the superhero capital of the world expressed interested in recruiting Selma director Ava DuVernay to direct the developing film, Black Panther, it was only a matter of time before everything was signed, sealed and delivered.

MCU Exchange has just revealed that Ava DuVernay has officially been put on board to steer the ship that has already named Chadwick Boseman as its captain in the title role.

Although Black Panther isn’t hitting theaters until July 6, 2018, the reported plan is to have DuVernay on the set of Captain America: Civil War as it will likely introduce Black Panther into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The third installment of the Captain America movies is currently being shot in Nigeria.

Mark Bailey is currently developing the movie’s script and the three-year time-lapse from now until the movie’s release should give DuVernay plenty of time to brush up on her superhero knowledge.

One of those artists just so happens to be Ms. Lauryn Hill as the degree of separation between the two are next to nothing.

“Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice.
Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift,” the ex-Fugees leader tells Rolling Stone about her cover of “Feeling Good.”

What Happened, Miss Simone? premieres on Netflix on June 26th and shortly after on July 10, the compilation Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone will be released. Common, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Jazmine Sullivan and Simone’s daughter Lisa all chip in on the project, among others. As for Lauryn Hill, she reportedly got so “swept up” in the emotional process that she contributed six songs to the LP.

***EMINEM MAKES HISTORY BUT SAYS IT'S BECAUSE OF HIS SKIN*** #CelebNews Eminem Becomes 1st Artist To Earn 2 RIAA Digital Diamond Awards!

Rapper Eminem made history but isn't quite happy that it was the racial bias of the music industry that helped him earn it. Via HipHopWired: Eminem once boldly rapped “Look at my sales, Let’s do the math; if I was Black, I would have sold half, I ain’t have to graduate from Lincoln High School to know that, But I could rap, so f*ck school, I’m too cool to go back, gimme the mic, show me where the f*cking studio’s at” on 2002’s The Eminem Show.

The Detroit MC was never naive that his ethnicity aligned with the majority of Hip-Hop’s buying public but no one could ever say he didn’t possess the skills to pay the bills, either. After more than fifteen years of making the Billboard Charts his personal reusable condom, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has taken noticed and bestowed two Digital Diamond Awards, making him the first artist to earn them.

According to the statistics, Eminem has earned the fourth most diamonds-certifications of any artist with only The Beatles with five and both Garth Brooks and Led Zeppelin with six ranking
ahead of him. The Digital Diamond Awards come courtesy of his previous hit singles in 2010’s “Not Afraid” and “Love The Way You Lie,” both from the album Recovery. Had iTunes been the norm for the bulk of his career surely he and several other artists would have received more.

Instead of lounging in the sunset, Eminem is shifting his musical focus to television. As Deadline is reporting, Paramount TV has recruited the versatile rapper to be an executive producer and music supervisor for the Detroit police drama series Narc, inspired by the 2002 Joe Carnahan movie of the same name.

Carnahan is set to direct and executive produce the show and it is expected to attract some big names to star ahead of it being shopped to networks.

The late Tupac Shakur continues to inspire fans and artist around the world. Pac left a mark in the hearts of many including Jhené Aiko. HipHopWired Reports: Jhené Aiko may be a next-gen R&B star but she’s also a L.A. angel and she knows all about throwing up the W’s with the best of them.

To commemorate Tupac Shakur’s would-be 44th birthday, today, June 16, 2015, the three-time Grammy nominee linked with photographer Danny Williams for a tribute that should evoke the same emotions for the fellas the late rap legend gave the ladies when he originally took them.

In a newly released interview with MTV’s Rob Markman, the 27-year-old talent admits to being young while Pac was in his prime and credits the 2003 Tupac: Resurrection documentary with bringing up her up to speed on his legacy. To channel as such, her and Williams used her tatted and lovely skin to perfectly recreate the undisputed classic All Eyez on Me album cover; the glossy-eyed gaze from the multi-platinum posthumous Greatest Hits collection; and the infamous David Lachapelle “Becoming Clean” bathtub project.

***HIP HOP WILL MAKE IT INTO THE HANDS OF MILLIONS*** #CelebNews Sprite's “Obey Your Verse” Lyrical Collection Cans Will Feature Drake, B.I.G, Nas And More Lyrics [Photos]

Sprite is one of the Hip-Hop culture’s most earliest supporters so it’s only right that continue to carry on tradition with their product placement. For summer 2015, they’re honoring old and new school classic quotables with their “Obey Your Verse” Lyrical Collection. For the limited collection’s first edition, they’re lacing cans with the poetic justice of Nas, brutal honesty of Drake, iconic quotes from Rakim and triumphant mind of The Notorious B.I.G.

“Sprite recognized and respected the power of Hip-Hop early, and it became a part of the brand’s essence decades ago,” said Kimberly Paige, Vice President, Sprite Brands and Flavors, Coca-Cola North America says via press release. “By honoring and recognizing great lyricism from some of the genre’s biggest icons on our product packaging, we’re demonstrating how Sprite continues to support hip-hop artists that remain true to themselves.”

Nas couldn’t agree more, who saw one of the most memorable lines from his classic debut Illmatic used for the campaign.

“Legacy means everything to me,” Nas, a longtime Sprite partner himself, said. “When I wrote these lyrics, I never imagined my fans would someday have the opportunity to enjoy a can of Sprite and experience my art in a totally original way.”

The “Obey Your Verse” Lyrical Collection will be available in stores nationwide through the end of summer and can be found on individual 12 and 16-ounce cans, 20-ounce bottles, and 12, 20 and 24-packs of 12-ounce cans.
