Actor and comedian has been cast as KFC’s first African-American Colonel Sanders. Seriously, we’re not making this up.
Grier, who recently played the Cowardly Lion in ABC’s critically acclaimed live rendition of The Wiz, announced the gig on Twitter this morning (March 3).
Breaking News: David Alan Grier has been cast as the first African American Colonel Sanders in the new KFC ad campaign. #KFC— David Alan Grier (@davidalangrier) March 3, 2016
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.
Considering that Donald Trump is the front runner for the GOP presidential nomination, nothing surprises us anymore. But hey, we can’t really judge until we see how KFC and Grier flip a brother as a Southern colonel with a love of fried chicken (the OG Col. Sanders was born in Indiana, though).
Nevertheless, bruh…
Yes, Antoine Merriweather is now Colonel Sanders. What a time to be alive.
