#CelebNews Respek The Hustle: Birdman Launches “Respek” Clothing Line [PHOTOS]

Now you can put some “respek” on your name and your body. Birdman has launched a Respek clothing line to capitalize on the word he made famous on The Breakfast Club last week.
Birdman demands “respeck” on his name and now he is making some more money off of it.

After his epic, meme-inspiring meltdown on The Breakfast Club last week that gave us more quotables than we can count, the Cash Money Records CEO has launched a new clothing line featuring some of the more memorable words from the exchange.

He revealed a line of T-shirts and hoodies featuring the infamous “Respek” word he created, as well as the lines “All Tree Y’all” [that’s “all three of y’all” when spoken in English] and “I Ain’t Gonna Say It No Mo.”

Birdman has since apologized to The Breakfast Club crew for his outburst, but Charlamagne Tha God has not accepted. It looks like Birdman is forgiving himself by lacing his pockets. The shirts are available at Women’s sizes and colors are available too.

#CelebNews Watch D’Angelo Sing A Prince Tribute On Jimmy Fallon [VIDEO]

Try holding back tears watching D’Angelo sing Prince’s 1986 ballad “Sometimes It Snows In April” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

D’Angelo made a rare television appearance on the late-night talk show to pay tribute to the iconic artist who died last Thursday (April 21). Backed by a duo billed as “Princess” (that included actress Maya Rudolph), D’Angelo sat at a white Yamaha piano and sang a stirring cover of “Sometimes It Snows In April.”

The song is the final track on Prince‘s 1986 album Parade and also appeared in the accompanying film Under The Cherry Moon. The song was reportedly recorded in one raw take.

D’Angelo, who has cited Prince as one of his main musical influences and the reason why he sought to play every instrument on his debut album Brown Sugar, fought back tears as he sang the song.

The song is written around Prince’s character in Cherry Moon, Christopher Tracy. While the song references Tracy by name throughout, D’Angelo went off script in the last verse of the song.

Where the original lyrics say:

“I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy is there I know that he has found another friend Maybe he’s found the answer to all the April snow Maybe one day I’ll see my Tracy again”

D’Aangelo inserted Prince’s name, singing:

“I often dream of heaven and I know that Prince is there I know that he has found another friend Maybe he’s found the answer to all the April snow Maybe one day I’ll see my Tracy again”

The moment got to D’Angelo, causing him to stumble and take a deep breath as Rudolph finished the lyrics for him. This is not the first time D’Angelo has sang a Prince cover. He also sang his 1985 classic “She’s Always In My Hair” for the Scream 2 soundtrack. Watch the emotional tribute below.

#CelebNews Drake Announces Seventh Annual OVO Fest And Summer SixteenTour With Future

Drake has plenty of news to share this week. He has just announced dates for his seventh annual OVO Fest and the Summer Sixteen Tour with Future. Not even 12 hours after revealing the cover for his Views From The 6 album, Drake woke up early this morning to reveal the line up for his seventh annual OVO Fest to be held in Toronto on July 29 at the Molson Amphitheater.

The festival is a four day affair that concludes on Monday, August 1. The line-up so far includes Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa and appears to be an intersection with their The High Road Tour. Drizzy is also using the OVO Fest to intersect with his Summer Sixteen tour that he announced just two minutes later. The Summer Sixteen tour co-stars his fellow “Jumpman” Future and will have two back-to-back dates in Toronto during OVO Fest. Chicago, New York, Houston and Los Angeles will also have back-t0-back dates. Other cities on the tour include Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, New Orleans and Oakland.
OVO Fest is held during Toronto’s Caribana celebration. The city has supported the festival with grant money in previous years, but did not support it in 2015. Past performers have included Stevie Wonder, Outkast, Jay Z, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and many other A-listers. Tickets have not gone on sale yet for OVO Fest. Summer Sixteen tour tickets go on sale Friday, April 29, the same day that Views From The 6 drops.

#CelebNews Common & Chance The Rapper Part Of Chicago Mural Art Project!

Chicago‘s Hip-Hop history is a vast one, but many fans would concede and say few stars have shined as brightly as native sons Common and Chance The Rapper at various times in their careers. The two are now immortalized by way of a mural art project in the South Side section of the Windy City.
Columbia College’s Chronicle publication covered the unveiling of the murals, which were created by Chicago artist and urban planner Chris Devins. Devins made Chance and Com Sense the subjects of his “Chatham 2.0” public arts project at the corner of 79th and Evans street.

More from the Chronicle:
Commissioned to help reaffirm community identity, the project also features the “You Are Beautiful” campaign by Chicago designer Matthew Hoffman and a series of vibrant paintings of black women as superheroes by local artist Yorli Huff.
Devins started his mural in April 2015 after First InSite Realty commissioned him to create art that would support a more positive outlook for the community.
“I’m looking to counter the constant negative imagery put out by the corporate media,” Devins said.
According to Devins’ Instagram, Common has seen the mural of himself up close and looks to be in approval in the snap. The veteran rapper splits time in other cities, but his undeniable city pride has remained constant. Chance currently wields the command of the young generation of city rappers, so it’s fitting that two men from varying generations were selected to represent the vibrancy of the South Side.

#CelebNews Erykah Badu Covers FADER Magazine’s Producers Issue!

Erykah Badu is gracing this months cover of FADER magazine which is also doubling as their annual Producers Issue.
The 45-year old Dallas representer is seen laying in a bed of pillows, seemingly camouflaged by white sheets and a white dress. Her large afro sits atop her relaxed face and hazel eyes gazing into the lens. This is Badu’s second time covering the magazine.
Erykah Badu FADER
In the story written Vinson Cunningham, Erykah Badu allows readers into her Dallas home where she is raising her son Seven, who she co-parents with Andre 3000 of Outkast, and her daughter Puma, who she co-parents with The D.O.C.
Badu offers her thoughts on Donald Trump and the 2016 presidential election campaigns:
“Oh, I don’t believe in any of that sh*t…Politics. I don’t know how much we have a say…It’s a show, it’s a game. On the smaller scale, I think that your city reps and district reps are very serious about what they’re doing, and then when they get up a little higher it becomes a show. Everybody gets kinda turned out.”

She also offered an opinion on the recent rash of police brutality against Blacks the #BlackLivesMatter movement that has followed:
“I felt it coming on. I was really feeling a strong affinity toward writing about what was going on around me. And I actually wrote about what’s happening right now in [2008’s New Amerykah Part 1 (4th World War). So I don’t feel the need to write it now, because I got it out…We can organize like a motherf*cker when police beat us up. But can we organize to stop black-on-black crime, or poor-on-poor crime? Because, you know, poor is the new black. You don’t have to be black now.”

She then spoke on her numerous Twitter comments that seem to land her in hot water every other month:
I was reporting, I was not supporting. It’s possible to understand the psyche behind behavior without condoning the behavior. I don’t have anything to apologize for. I don’t mean to take anything back…Expressing our pain and anger for something can make us very delicate. I’m very sensitive about it now—more than before. My whole objective is to create a dialogue. That’s always my main goal…I really enjoy writing and being able to get words out of my mind in a clear way, and I get to do that when I go on Twitter. I can push send knowing that I’ve clearly communicated what I was trying to say. I just pretty much tweet spontaneously. I view myself as an artist and an intellect, a sociologist, a self-scientist—meaning that I test my own theories by having conversations with others. It’s part of my job. It’s who I am, it’s what I do.
The Producer’s Issue of FADER hits stands May 10.

#CelebNews Trick Daddy Says He Will Be In Love & Hip-Hop: Miami

Trick Daddy is coming to prime time television. The rapper has revealed that he will be staring in the new Love & Hip-Hop: Miami show. In an exclusive talk with Bossip the artist formerly known as

Trick Daddy Dollars says that he will be a regular cast member on Love & Hip-Hop franchise creator Mona Scott-Young’s newest show.

He tells Bossip:

I just met with Mona last week and we’re trying to do this thing right. Put some real Miami b*tches and real Miami n*ggas on the show…I’m really doing Love & Hip Hop: Miami because there’s a difference between Old Cutler (a sleepy highway that connects Miami to the Everglades) money and South Beach money. Old Cutler money is grandfathered in, South Beach is investors.

Love & Hip-Hop is currently anchored by three versions of the show that are taped in Atlanta, Hollywood and New York. The popular reality show has also spurned a number of spin-offs. The show is mainly known for featuring Hip-Hop artists who are in the twilight of their careers or seeking visibility to promote their music. Sometimes the characters aren’t necessarily active in Hip-Hop at all.

Trick Daddy says that he will start filming in May and that his story line revolves around him managing two artists, Mike Smith and Premadonna, with the latter’s husband trying to sign Trick to his label. Trick Daddy promises not to go out like so many before him though.

“One thing I won’t do is make a fool of myself,” Trick said. “If we gone make a fool of somebody it won’t be me, so it’ll be interesting.”

#CelebNews Birdman Announces New Album And Rich Gang Reunion!

Birdman took to Instagram and announced that he is dropping a new solo album this June entitled Ms. Gladys, and that another Rich Gang album will be dropping in July. According to two covers he shared on social media last night fans will be getting a double dose of Birdman this summer.
A photo posted by Birdman5star (@birdman5star) on

A photo posted by Birdman5star (@birdman5star) on

The first post hints at a new Birdman solo album dropping this June. Ms. Gladys will be his first proper solo album since 2009’s Priceless that heavily featured his Cash Money artists Lil Wayne and Drake. The album title pays tribute to his deceased mother.

A photo posted by Birdman5star (@birdman5star) on

That post was followed by one featuring a graphic promoting a new Rich Gang album titled The Lifestyle 2 slated to drop in July.

The content on these albums is up in the air considering Birdman’s current relationship status with his once reliable stable of artists. He is entangled in a lawsuit with Cash Money’s flagship artist Lil Wayne which has resulted in a rabbit hole of ligation fellow frequent collaborators Drake and Nicki Minaj. The most recent Rich Gang incarnation of Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug was all but broken when RHQ left the group and the two started dissing each other.

Add that to the tension between Young Thug and Wayne and you have a window to either hear the most interesting or most random album in the world should any of these parties choose to record with Birdman. Thus far, Birdman has released a video for Ms. Gladys’ title track and it features a new rapper named Neno Calvin. The video also features an appearance from Cash Money artist Caskey. Perhaps these are signs that a new era of Cash Money is set to begin.

If we’ve learned anything from Birdman, is to never count him out. Update: Birdman has posted another graphic for Ms. Gladys.
