Chance The Rapper is making history on his own terms. The Chicago MC’s latest mixtape…actually, album, is the first streaming-exclusive album to chart on the Billboard 200 album chart.

According to Billboard,  Chance’s album was streamed the equivalent of 38,000 album units its first week out. The project was released exclusively through Apple Music, and it generated 57.3 million streams (1,500 streams = streaming equivalent album).

Chance’s album, which was released on May 13, will debut at no. 8 on the Billboard 200 when is properly published tomorrow (May 24).

Coloring Book will remain an Apple Music exclusive until May 27. While it will then be available on other streaming services, there is no word on whether or not the album will be officially be available for sale.

Not bad for an independent artists, although with moves like this, Chance may not even count. Check out the Apple Music ad for Coloring Book below.
